Spanish for "Saint Barbara"
[edit]That's not true. "Saint Barbara" would be "Santa Bárbara". Leaving out the accent is a grave spelling mistake, which leads to a pronunciation mistake. Of course, the English name has no accent, but when talking about the Spanish translation, the correct form should be mentioned. --94.134.89.251 (talk) 01:14, 12 February 2019 (UTC)

[edit]@WCCasey:, Please see WP:LINKSTOAVOID and WP:ELYES. External links are discouraged in the guidelines unless they meet certain criteria. None of the ones I deleted (and several more) are appropriate. Per WP:BRD, you may defend each link you think should be kept based on the guidelines. - Your edit note was "Trim unnecessary content". None of the LINKSTOAVOID guidelines use the word "unnecessary". It's up to the deleting editor to "defend" deletions of content someone else has added in good faith. WCCasey (talk) 04:18, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
Photo request
[edit]If anyone local is reading this, it would be great to have a photo of the plaque in remembrance of the MV Conception victims that was put at the SB harbor.

Wildfires
[edit]I don’t understand “…and drop humidities into the single digits, increasing the chance due to downed power lines, etc., and severity of wildfires in the …”.
Does the heat itself cause downed lines? Or is it that the heat and dryness increases the likelihood and severity of fires, which could be started by downed power lines or the etc? Pbackstrom (talk) 01:46, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
- It's the winds that knock down the power lines - "Sundowner" winds can be very very strong (60-70 mph is not uncommon) and they desiccate because of the adiabatic effect of compression as they come over and down from the mountain ridge; it can be a hundred degrees at sea level with humidities in the single digits during one of those events. In 1990 the Painted Cave fire erupted in such circumstances and destroyed over 500 homes in just a couple of hours. Antandrus (talk) 01:49, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
